Overview

The Student Services Department at Port Moresby Business College plays a central role in supporting students throughout their learning journey, ensuring their academic, personal, and social needs are met. The department provides a wide range of services designed to create a safe, supportive, and engaging campus environment where students can thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Student Services oversees student welfare, offering guidance and assistance for students facing personal, social, or academic challenges. The department also manages student discipline, ensuring that college policies are followed and that a respectful and safe environment is maintained for all members of the POMBC community.

The department coordinates orientation programmes for new students, helping them transition into college life by providing essential information about academic requirements, campus facilities, and available support services. It also facilitates student counselling, offering confidential support for students who need help managing stress, personal issues, or academic concerns.

Student Services manages student activities and clubs, encouraging participation in leadership programs, cultural events, sports, and other extracurricular activities that promote personal growth and community engagement. The department also assists with student records, identification cards, academic status updates, and general student enquiries.

Through these services, the Student Services Department works to enhance the overall student experience, promote student success, and support the development of well-rounded, confident, and responsible individuals.

POMBC Corporate Social Responsibilities

"Education achieves its highest purpose when it transforms into action. At Port Moresby Business College, we do not just teach leadership—we live it by weaving public engagement, government collaboration, and civil society partnerships into the core fabric of our identity. Together, we are turning shared knowledge into a powerful, human-centered force for nation building."

At Port Moresby Business College, community service is not a passive checkbox on our strategic agenda. It is the driving pulse of our institutional identity, captured in our defining motto: “Growing to Serve and Serving to Grow”. We recognize that true educational excellence cannot exist in isolation from the society it intends to uplift. By opening our doors and stepping outside our campus walls, we are actively strengthening our engagement with the public. We break down traditional academic barriers to position our students and academic staff as active, empathetic citizens. Every community initiative we undertake transforms theoretical business knowledge into human-centric solutions. We address real-world hardships, listen to community voices, and foster mutual trust with the people of Papua New Guinea.

Real, lasting societal impact relies entirely on unity. This drives our strategic focus on expanding collaborations and partnerships with government bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and civil society groups. We seamlessly bridge institutional divides to co-create sustainable development, educational pathways, and civic empowerment initiatives. By aligning our resources with state priorities and the grassroots agility of NGOs, we create a unified ecosystem of service. Our students do not graduate merely as skilled business professionals; they emerge as socially conscious leaders. They enter the workforce fully equipped to collaborate across sectors, champion transparency, and drive positive, human-centered change across our nation.
