Department of Higher Education Research Science & Technology (DHERST) in 2022, all our academic programmes are undergoing the normal accreditation process with DHERST. Two new programmes including Certificate in Office Management and Bachelor in Accounting are undergoing the same accreditation process and it is hoped that both programmes will commence in 2027. Meanwhile, several programmes in Accounting and Business are accredited with the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) and the Institute of Business Studies University (IBSU). The accreditations provide a pathway for POMBC graduates who have acquired the appropriate GPA to continue onto these two Universities to complete their Bachelor programmes.

POMBC recognises the evolving and competitive nature of our operating environment and the need to remain relevant with innovations in virtual teaching platforms and technology. Our long-term vision is to be a dynamic and innovative institution delivering excellence in education and training. To achieve this, POMBC is investing in upgrading its Information Technology & Communication (ITC) Infrastructure to enhance our virtual learning platforms and e-library services for our students. This should help us provide our courses virtually to our future online students.

Part of the process to remain relevant includes maintaining dialogue with our stakeholders and industry partners to ensure our programmes are tailored for their needs. This approach is consistent with our Mission ‘to foster academic excellence, industry relevance, and lifelong learning through innovative academic programmes and partnerships.

POMBC’s long-term goal is to one day become “The National University of Papua New Guinea.” We are doing everything within our power to ensure that the roadmap to achieving this status remains on track.
