Mr. Lonnie Baki
It is with great pleasure that I extend my warm congratulations and best wishes to the Governing Council, Principal, management, staff, students, alumni, and partners of Port Moresby Business College (POMBC) as the College embarks on a new chapter of institutional growth through the implementation of its Strategic Plan 2026–2030. The Strategic Plan 2026–2030 presents a clear vision for strengthening academic quality, enhancing student learning, embracing digital innovation, expanding infrastructure, and building sustainable partnerships.
As Papua New Guinea’s first TVET business college, Port Moresby Business College has played an important role in providing accessible, industry-relevant education in the fields of Accounting, Business, Information Technology, and Tourism and Hospitality Management. With an annual enrolment of approximately 550 to 600 students, the College continues to contribute meaningfully to the development of skilled graduates
who support the country’s public and private sectors. The Strategic Plan 2026–2030 presents a clear vision for strengthening academic quality, enhancing student learning, embracing digital innovation, expanding infrastructure, and building sustainable partnerships.
The successful registration of Port Moresby Business College as a higher education institution following the institutional audit conducted in 2025 is a significant achievement that reflects the College’s commitment to quality assurance, institutional governance, and continuous improvement. This milestone demonstrates that the College has met the standards expected of institutions within Papua New Guinea’s higher education sector and has established a strong foundation for future growth and development.
I wish to commend the leadership of the Principal, the management team, and the Governing Council for their exemplary commitment to good governance, transparency, accountability, and strategic leadership. Their proactive approach to institutional planning and infrastructure development has significantly enhanced the College’s learning environment and positioned the institution for continued success. Such leadership provides confidence that the College will continue to achieve its strategic objectives while maintaining high standards of academic and administrative excellence.
The Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology remains committed to working collaboratively with higher education institutions to strengthen quality, improve access, promote innovation, and develop the skilled workforce required for our nation’s future. I encourage Port Moresby Business College to continue building on its achievements and to pursue excellence in all aspects of its operations.
On behalf of the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, I congratulate Port Moresby Business College on its remarkable progress and commend its vision for the future. I wish the Governing Council, Principal, management, staff, students, and stakeholders every success in implementing the Strategic Plan 2026–2030. May the College continue to grow in strength, reputation, and impact, serving as a model of excellence in technical, vocational, and higher education in Papua New Guinea.
