OUR HISTORY
Our college prides itself on a rich history of academic excellence and commitment to student success. Over the years, we have achieved significant milestones, evolving to meet the needs of our community and adapting to changes in education. Here’s a glimpse into our journey, highlighting moments that shaped us.
From its humble beginning, Port Moresby Business College (POMBC) was once part of Papua New Guinea Administrative College. It was moved to Konedobu later on renamed “Commercial Training Centre” where it was training typists for the Government Departments and Training Co-operative Officers. The establishment of the Laloki Co-operative college saw an end to the Training Centre. Secretarial Training was moved to Papua New Guinea Electricity Commission (ELCOM) Training Centre at Hohola. In 1972, to 1974, the Education Department took over the current premises which used to be an International Primary School (now Gordons) and renamed it “Port Moresby Secretarial College”. It operated as a Secretarial College until late 1986 when the Clerical Studies Department of Port Moresby Technical College was moved to the college. In 1987, the Department of Education accorded the college the status of Business College as a result of the implementation of its rationalization policy on education. This marks another renaming of the institution to “Port Moresby Business College”.
